Writer Support Packages
If you would like more time to collaborate on your writing you can purchase packages of consultation time.
Your consultation time can be used as you need it – and for whatever you need it for – and can be purchased in packages of 3 or 6 hours.
Unlike the 3x3 Manuscript Program (which provides a structure and a format) this option is more flexible and allows you to determine the frequency and duration of our meetings.
Clients choose these packages when they have a variety of needs that lend themselves to a more unstructured approach. These packages are perfect when you just want to pick up the phone and do things like:
- bounce an idea around,
- get advice on where a character needs to go,
- talk through a stumbling block that has you stuck,
- get advice on craft and specific writing issues,
- talk through personal issues like procrastination or unsupportive family members or simply finding the time to write.
- work on more than one manuscript at a time
…in other words, get support with the kinds of things that come up when you’re a writer.
This allows you to set the pace for how you’d like to progress with your writing. Whether you’d like to talk for an hour every week or you’d just like to get on the phone for 15 or 30 minutes at a time as needed, you can design our interactions to suit your needs.
Package Details & Pricing
Purchased hours are valid for a full 12 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable.
Consultation time takes place over the phone – however, if you’re an international client, we can arrange to speak via Skype, WhatsApp or Zoom.
My standard hourly consulting rate is $297, but with these consultation packages you’ll receive a discount by purchasing multiple hours at once.
Current pricing for packages is:
- 3 hours for $800
- 6 hours for $1,500
Again, you can use your consultation time however you'd like, from as little as 15 minutes to as much as 90 minutes at a time.
And you can always ask me through our time together if there's anything I recommend we focus on during an upcoming call. Sometimes it's easier to let an editor look for what's needed most and provide direction, and I'm more than happy to help with that.

Kind Words
Simone helps you get to the heart of your story. It probably won't happen in one session and it is rarely a linear process, but she will sit and dig with you. Together you will sift through the dirt, twigs, and rocks, and then plant your story.
And I love working over the phone. The process is conversational. Simone is present and eager to dive in. Spontaneous ideas pop up from our discussion. Creativity sparks through the phone.
We always make good progress and learn something with each session. I feel safe trying things because I know that the discussion about why something is or isn't working will move the story further along.

Simone has been a true creative "midwife" in the sense that she has pulled the best out of me - currently, two manuscripts that I know, in my atoms, are the best picture books I have ever written.
She has an intuitive grasp of the picture book art form, especially the layers of emotional resonance that it can convey and tells me kindly and directly what is not working in a manuscript and why. She understands the messiness of the creative process, is very patient with my fits and starts and the need to pull back sometimes when another character needs rethinking.
I am always inspired by her commitment to excellence and authority. And I love her sense of humor.

My dear friend, Jean Marzollo, sent me to Simone when I was working on The Knish War on Rivington Street. I was struggling to keep and short and smart and it was Simone who helped me give up some of my golden words with a kind but firm hand.
Simone has a keen ear for details and tone - skills that made all the difference. I looked forward to our editing sessions on the phone and enjoyed the back and forth that makes a good story much better. We were both delighted when the book was chosen as a Sydney Taylor Honor Book.
Thank you, Simone!
